ThinkAutomation AI Connector
As businesses and technology ecosystems become increasingly complex, the need for protocols like Model Context Protocol (or for short – MCP), that can bridge gaps between systems, has never been greater. We want to give our customers the best, and most secure process when it comes to seamless integration between AI and automation systems.
MCP addresses the growing need for cohesive communication amongst various platforms.
ThinkAutomation can act as a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, allowing your external AI services to securely execute actions and retrieve real-time context.
The AI Connector message source is the key to this functionality, enabling you to configure the specific MCP tools your AI needs.
What does MCP (Model Context Protocol) do?
In simple terms – Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an advanced feature that works with AI tools, like ChatGPT. Essentially, it’s a set of rules that help AI talk to ThinkAutomation in a safe and structured way.
Let’s use a real-life example; you need to know the balance of an invoice.
Normally, ChatGPT wouldn’t know the answer to that as it’s confidential, internal information. However, with the installation of an MCP, it may follow the below process:
The AI (MCP) sees the question and pulls out the invoice number.
It asks ThinkAutomation to run a task called “Get Invoice”.
That task finds the invoice details from your business system.
The results are sent back to the AI (MCP), which then uses them to answer the question.
Simple, and efficient!
How does MCP work in ThinkAutomation?
One or more AI Connector message sources is set up in ThinkAutomation.
Each one is linked to a specific task (e.g., get invoice, check service status, etc.).
Each source gets a name (like "getinvoice") and a description that tells the AI when and how to use it.
The AI connects to ThinkAutomation using a special URL (the MCP endpoint).
When the AI sends a request, ThinkAutomation finds the right task and runs it.
How can MCP help my business?
An MCP (Model Context Protocol) helps AI tools (like ChatGPT) to securely connect to your internal systems so they can do the real work – not just answer general questions.
Improvements it’ll do for your business:
1. Faster, smarter customer service
2. Connect AI to the right data, safely
3. Supercharge your existing automations
